The cosmetic giant just announced that it has signed two of fashion's leading runway models -- France's Constance Jablonski and China's Liu Wen -- which makes the duo the first models Estée Lauder has signed from either country. Cover faces for the beauty brand have traditionally hailed from the U.S., U.K. and Eastern European nations like Poland and the Czech Republic.
We wonder if new creative makeup director Tom Pecheux -- who is a fixture backstage during fashion week -- is encouraging Lauder to expand its presence in the world of high fashion?
"Estée Lauder has always searched for global beauties that define a generation. Constance and Liu Wen are the beauties of our time. Both models have quickly captured the attention of the fashion and beauty world," said Aerin Lauder, Senior Vice President and Creative Director of Estée Lauder.
Jablonski is originally from Lille, France, and walked the runways for a staggering 62 shows in New York, Milan and Paris during the Fall and Winter 2010 fashion season. The icy blonde is also a favorite of the editorial fashion world, with recent appearances on the cover of Chinese Vogue and in American, British, French and Italian issues of Vogue.
Meanwhile, Wen was born in Beijing, China, and started her career on the pages of Chinese Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. And her heels are well-worn from a season of runway prancing too; she worked a total of 49 shows for the Fall and Winter 2010 fashion season, which included names like Derek Lam -- which Estee Lauder sponsored -- along with Rodarte, Carolina Herrera, Balenciaga and Michael Kors.
Look for the fresh new faces to start making ad appearances in June. We just hope that by then, the girls have kicked off those heels and are finally putting their feet up.
