Perfect purple nailpolishes for autumn

purple-nail-varnish.jpgSick and tired of summer corals, I've been searching for the perfect purple and deep plum nail polish colours over the past few weeks. I don't want anything too sparkly, and I definitely don't want pinky tones: it's got to be deep, dark and dramatic. I've tried out just a few of the main A/W ranges out there, and here are a few that stand out.

Left to right:

MAC's Dark Angel is a Gothy romantic dark lilac that's bang on for this season. It's got a warmth to it, but one that only comes out in a certain light.

Essie's Bahama Mama is a fun and adventurous plum, and has the brand's distinctive matte finish, which can either be left as is or glossed up nicely with top coat. This is an eyecatching and flirty purple that will look amazing contrasted against a dark outfit.

Revlon's Plum Night is probably my favourite shade here. It's from the brand's new Autunn collection and although it's available 'from September' I've not yet seen it for sale. Used at the most recent Luella, Jason Wu, Cynthia Rowley and Rag & Bone shows, it's dusky, dark and alluring. Likely to be a huge hit!

NARS Nail Lacquer in Tokaido is a bit more shimmery than what I'd go for at present, but it's such a great formula I had to include it here. It's smooth, shiny and very tough. Keep one aside for parties.

I'm also hearing good things about Nails Inc's Victoria Gate, which is now available as part of their autumn winter collection.
