Still experiencing a tinge of secondhand excitement from the plethora of phenomenal beauty moments going on in the new Tao Okamoto issue of Vogue Nippon, we took a moment to look back at the Muse magazine #19 solo tribute to Natasha Poly. It was purchased last month when we were slightly too preoccupied with the Spring shows to pay it proper attention. Had we taken the time to peruse, we would’ve stumbled upon an interesting chicken-or-egg argument that is worth bringing up now. Did Marc Jacobs know about Sølve Sundsbø’s full-on geisha editorial when he instructed François Nars and Guido Palau to stay a similar hair and makeup course for his recent presentation, or did Sundsbø perhaps catch wind of Jacobs’ early backstage beauty storyboards and order a similar look for his spread? Or—and this might blow your mind a little bit—is it possible that the creative stars collided, releasing a collective burst of topknot, alabaster skin, and red lip-loving for Fall (and Spring, as the case may be), of which neither designer nor photographer was even aware?! Discuss. All beauty conspiracy theories welcome!
