Ashwariya: Asymmetry in motion

At last night’s premiere of The Pink Panther 2, a film we can almost 100 percent say we have no interest in seeing, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked surprised—or was it amused? Perhaps befuddled—as she walked the pink carpet in peach blush and a bouffant-cum-ponytail, with one eyebrow raised in seeming perpetuity (we checked the photo gallery; all things above her left eye pointed up, at all times). Outside of the whole dark eyes, full lips, and slammin’ body, we think we’ve pinpointed the bona fide Bollywood beauty’s appeal: asymmetry. Distinguishing quirks far outweigh perfect proportions, as far as we’re concerned. You?

Makeup Trends - Lush Lashes

GET THE LOOK: Celebrity makeup artist Linda Hay calls the combination of a strong, defined brow, individual lashes and berry stain on the lips “super striking”.
INSIDER TRICK: To create the thick-lash look, Hay used “as many short individual lashes as possible on both the top and bottom lashlines. I then applied a very fine line of Victoria’s Secret Glitter Eyeliner in Licorice and liberal quantities of High Definition mascara from Victoria’s Secret.”

Longer Lashes: Allergan's Latisse Approval

Allergan Inc., which makes Botox anti-wrinkle injections, said Friday that it has won approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of it Latisse treatment designed to grow eyelashes “longer, thicker and darker.” The Irvine, Calif.-based firm said it will market the treatment in the U.S. by prescription only, beginning in the first quarter, and estimates that the global business could exceed $500 million annually.

Better lashes

A panel of government experts said that the glaucoma drug appears to be a safe and effective way to make eyelashes longer and fuller.

The agency's panel of outside eye and skin specialists voted unanimously that the drug's benefits outweigh its risks.

Today’s Beauty Look: Dramatic Lashes

Jessica looking glamorouswith her movie star eyes.

The Look: 90210 star Jessica Stroup is anything but a drama queen. However, her lashes are another story. “I strategically placed long and medium individual lashes along her lashline, then swept four coats of mascara on top once the lash glue was dry,” says celebrity makeup artist Amy Nadine. “The result was head-turning luscious lashes!”

This look is perfect for all those holiday parties coming up in the next few months! But that is no surprise lashes have been around forever, but now they are back in action!

The Trick: Tacky isn’t always a bad thing! Before applying false lashes, draw a line of glue onto the back of your hand. Wait until it’s tacky (about 10 seconds), then dip the root of the fake lash in. Press the root knot into the base of your lashline and hold for five seconds to make it stick.
