The Look: Girly!

We take a look at the girly side of Rihanna, which includes floral frocks, soft lace, fabulous frills and feminine tailoring. She pumps it up with an extra dose of sex appeal, and flirtatious charm. Best of all, we’ve got tips on how you can easily create this look on your own.

Fashion:

Rihanna definitely knows how to work an outfit and this one takes the pretty femininity of the classic floral frock and pumps it with up with a heavy dose of sex appeal. Girly floral and a feminine bubble skirt are given a seductive twist by using a colour palette that’s less prissy, more graphic, bringing up the hemline (a lot!) and going with a super-sexy, corset-inspired bodice. The idea is to be feminine and flirty without getting too girly or sugary sweet.

To get this look in the real world, go for florals, which have been all the rage this year, but stay away from pastel hues or too-girly prints. Bolder, sexier colours will lend a modern feel to an old-fashioned idea. Up the sex appeal by showing a little skin but keep it to a hint of cleavage or a bit of leg. Everything at once may work for Rihanna in Hollywood, but it will probably get you in trouble at the supermarket. And last but not least, have some fun with structure and volume—try pairing a flouncy, top with a slim pencil skirt or super tight skinnies.

Beauty:

This look is all about exuding fun, youthfulness and a bit of flirtatious charm. “Her face is pretty and glowing, but all the drama is in the eyes,” says Venoit. Start to define the eye by using a very sharp pencil to line all the way around the eye and then diffusing the colour using CoverGirl’s Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadows Indigo Impact and Platina. This will help create drama and a sense of mystery and sensuality.

“Be sure to line the lower lid from the outer corner all the way to the inner corner but leave the upper part of the inner corner of the eye bright and open by using a light shade such as Snow Blossum,” says Venoit. “This will create separation and width between the eyes.”

Next, create a sexy, feline look, by diffusing the shadow on the upper lid out to the outer corner of the eye. To finish, curl your lashes and use CoverGirl’s LashBlast Mascara in Very Black on the upper and lower lashes for maximum effect.

For the lips, use CoverGirl’s Outlast All-Day Lip Color in Nude to create a pretty neutral pout. “Because the eyes are so dramatic you really want to let them be the main feature,” says Venoit. “Playing down the lips here will keep your look feeling clean and sophisticated.”

Finally, use the TRUblend Naturally Luminous Loose Powder in Translucent Honey to absorb any excess oil and softly sculpt cheekbones with the Cheekers Blush in Iced Cappuccino.
