Your secret's out.
Yesterday's New York Times reports on a once hush hush phenomenon -- beauty house calls.
Previously reserved for the rich and famous, beauty house calls might actually save you money. You don't have to need sprucing up for the Golden Globes to have one either. You may just want to save precious time away from work or the kids.
This type of service can benefit both you and your esthetician. He can come to you outside of regular salon hours, when he would typically not be making money, and you may save a few dollars off your service since your stylist won't have to share the fee with the salon, nor will you have to tip the person who washes your hair, takes your coat, does your blow-dry, etc.
Of course, as noted in the Times article, you may prefer to reserve certain services for the salon or spa -- like bikini waxes and body scrubs, which can be awkward and messy. The time you typically spend at the salon may also be a forced getaway for some, that really shouldn't be forgone. Sometimes you just need a break from everything, even if it's while you're getting electrolysis.
So next time you see your stylist, why not inquire on her house-call policy? You never know what you might find out.
